The recent crisp winter mornings and sunny days have made me think about the wonderful tradition of picnics. They conjure up so many beautiful images in my mind...
The 'getting together' of family, friends or lovers, the tartan picnic rug, the cane basket, plastic plates and cutlery, games of cricket and frisbee, barbecues, sparkling wine, Camembert cheese, cold meats, bread sticks, homemade culinary delights, sweet summer fruits and the list goes on... All effortlessly complimenting nature's rustic dining room.
There is something particularly special about packing up beautiful food to share with people you love, heading outdoors and literally being 'brought down to Earth' (sand or grass) to appreciate the simpler things in life!
